More savings for seniors, students and the disabled on SunRail
Sanford – The Florida Department of Transportation today announced that students, seniors and the disabled can now enjoy deeply discounted fares on SunRail with the purchase of a Prepaid Value SunCard.
The Prepaid Value SunCard works just like a debit card, where SunRail fares are deducted based on the distance traveled. Funds can be added to the card as often as needed. All SunRail customers receive a 10 percent bonus when loading funds onto the card.
Beginning Monday, October 26, students between the ages of 7-18, seniors over the age of 65, and the disabled who are certified by LYNX and/or Votran or who have a current Medicare card, also will qualify for 50 percent discounted fares with a PrePaid Value SunCard. To qualify for the discount, valid identification must be shown to a SunRail conductor upon request.
With inclusion of the PrePaid Value plan, the 50 percent discount for students, seniors and the disabled now applies to all types of fare payments, including one-way and round-trip tickets, and weekly, monthly and annual passes.
Simply visit a ticket vending machine at any of the 12 SunRail stations in Volusia, Seminole and Orange counties and select the SunCard that best meets your needs and schedule. Or, you may order on-line at www.SunRail.com .
