Orange County – The paving project on westbound Interstate 4, on the south side of Orlando, continues and lane closures are in store Sunday night into Monday morning, as crews put detection loops into the pavement.
The loops measure the number of vehicles driving through the I-4 corridor. The information is analyzed by computer and is used to update the Digital Message Signs (DMS) on I-4 to advise/update the travelers how long it will take them to get from point A to point B. It is part of the Intelligent Transportation System in the Orlando metro area.
The work Sunday night-Monday morning occurs from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic could be reduced to one lane. The work is occurring in the westbound lanes only from Sand Lake Road to just east of Conroy Road. Be advised that weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances could affect construction schedules.
