Sanford – Crews will close West 18th Street at the Central Florida Commuter Rail Corridor tracks beginning Monday, July 9 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., through Thursday, July 12, as crews continue work on the SunRail project. Residents are being advised to use Southwest Road and Strickland Avenue as a detour around the work.

The work includes placing new track, replacing old asphalt, and building new sidewalks. Work is expected to last several days at each railroad crossing; however, it may take up to a week to complete the sidewalk work.

Crews will then move to Southwest Road to continue track and roadway work. Residents are advised to use 18th Street and Strickland Avenue as a detour around the work. Hours of operations will remain between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation also urges you to obey railroad crossing signals and never cross a closed crossing gate.
