Lake & Volusia Counties – Motorists need to be on the lookout beginning Monday, April 23 as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) begins bridge deck replacement operations on the Astor Bridge on SR 40 over the St. John’s River. The project starts at the west approach of the bridge and goes to the end of the east approach.
Seacoast, Inc. will be performing the work. The project will last approximately 110 calendar days, weather permitting. The project cost is $798,327.
Traffic will be reduced to one way, controlled by a traffic signal during daytime operations and will be opened to two way traffic at night. Lane closures are to be expected throughout the project.
Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along the construction corridor. Motorists are urged to use caution and drive with care.
