Palm Coast - Flagler County is holding a public hearing regarding the addition of an interchange to I-95 at Matanzas Woods Parkway and associated improvements to Matanzas Woods Parkway from US 1 to Old Kings Road in Flagler County Florida. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is assisting in the study.

The hearing will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE, Palm Coast, FL 32137. It begins at 5:00 p.m. with an open house, where participants may review project documents and discuss the project. There will be a brief presentation at 5:45 p.m., after which participants may provide comments to all present.

Participants may also provide public comment directly to a court reporter at any time during the hearing. Written comments can be submitted at this hearing or by mail to; Mindy Heath, Public Involvement Coordinator, HDR Engineering, Inc., 315 East Robinson St., Ste 400, Orlando FL 32801 or mindy.heath@hdrinc.com, or by fax to 407.420.4242, postmarked no later than December 9, 2011. All comments, written and oral, will become part of the project’s public record.

This public hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.

The project improves access to I-95 and provides additional capacity along Matanzas Woods Parkway. There are also potential access changes in the study corridor. Matanzas Woods Parkway may change from an unrestricted undivided 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway. The divided roadway would have a raised median and openings at appropriate spacing and locations, consistent with County guidelines. Stormwater treatment options, including potential stormwater pond locations, will also be presented.

The draft project documents and other information will be available for review from November 8, 2011 through December 9, 2011 at Flagler County Library Main Branch, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway N.W., Palm Coast, Florida 32137 or at Flagler County Engineering, 1769 E. Moody Blvd. Building 2, Suite 309, Bunnell, FL 32110.

Project information will also be available on the County’s website, www.flaglercounty.org. For additional information concerning the project, please contact Richard Gordon, the Flagler County Project Manager, at 386.313.4046 or via email at rgordon@flaglercounty.org.
