New Smyrna Beach - On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), you are invited to take part in a public information meeting about planned intersection improvements to US 1/ SR 5 near New Smyrna Beach. The meeting is Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the New Smyrna Beach City Hall, 210 Sams Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.

The project improves safety for pedestrians and motorists along the US 1 corridor. The plans call for widening and repaving the roadway, as well as additional right and left turn lanes at Canal Street, drainage improvements, and new signals at Canal Street and Lytle Avenue. The improvements also provide better traffic flow at the intersection of US 1 and Canal Street. This project is currently not funded for construction.

The meeting begins with an open house at 5 p.m. and includes a brief presentation at 6 p.m. The meeting concludes at 7 p.m.  Information on the roadway design is available at the meeting.  Staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer any questions you may have.
