Widening on US 17/92 in Seminole County near City of Longwood [240196-1] View Project

    Detour of General Hutchison Parkway in Longwood, Seminole County

    Motorists that regularly travel General Hutchison Parkway are advised of the extended closure of the road from U.S. 17/92 to east of Big Tree Park.

    The closure of General Hutchison Parkway is necessary for construction crews to safely raise the road, construct the southbound phase of the bridge over Soldiers Creek and widen southbound U.S. 17/92 from Bill Ray Nissan to Shepard Road. 

    During the closure, General Hutchison Parkway may be accessed by one of two detours:

        ·            U.S. 17/92 to westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard or

        ·            U.S. 17/92 to westbound State Road (S.R.) 434 to northbound Ronald  

                  Reagan Boulevard.   

    Unforeseen utility work, revisions to plans for retaining walls and some design modifications in this area of work caused delays to opening General Hutchison Parkway.

    General Hutchison Parkway is anticipated to reopen by early December 2019 pending weather and other unforeseen circumstances.  

    To ensure your safety and the safety of others, please use extra caution when driving through construction work zones.


  • Sunday, October 13th, 2019 to Saturday, October 19th, 2019

    Sunday through Friday, 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.: Alternating single lane closures in the inside and outside northbound and southbound lanes throughout the span of the construction project on US 17/92. Roadway improvements include asphalt paving, lane striping, barrier removal, and work with traffic signals.

  • Monday, October 14th, 2019 to Saturday, October 19th, 2019

    Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.,  Daytime lane closure for the left travel lane northbound on State Road (S.R.) 17/92 from Soldier Creek Bridge to half a mile north of Soldier Creek Bridge. Roadway improvements include median roadway construction.

  • Thursday, October 17th, 2019 to Friday, October 18th, 2019

    Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Contractors will close lanes for asphalt pavement repairs.

    Right travel lane closure southbound on US 17/92, ¼ mile south of General Hutchinson Parkway.

    Left travel lane closure southbound on US 17/92, ¼ mile south of Silkwood Court.

    Single lane closures on State Road (S.R.) 419 westbound, 300 feet east of US 17/92.

  • Monday, February 25th, 2019 to Saturday, November 9th, 2019

    At this time, construction to replace the Green Swamp bridge on State Road 33 continues to be postponed.

    Construction for the southbound left turn lane on State Road 33 to County Road 561 begins Tuesday, May 28. For more information, visit http://www.cflroads.com/project/436127-1/SR_33_at_CR_561

    The decision to postpone the bridge project comes after further consultation with local partners to explore other means and methods that could offer less disruption. The additional time will allow everyone to see if there is another option, other than the total shutdown of traffic at the site of the current bridge during demolition and reconstruction.

    A new construction timetable is being developed that will be based on how the construction scope is modified.

  • Sunday, March 3rd, 2019 to Saturday, November 30th, 2019

    Southbound S.R. A1A detour in effect. All southbound traffic is detoured onto South Central Avenue from South 7th Street to South 23rd Street to accommodate reconstruction of S.R. A1A. Northbound traffic remains on S.R. A1A. Access to all businesses and residences will be maintained using side streets or northbound S.R. A1A.

    Side street closures -- motorists are advised that some side streets between South South 22nd Street and South 9th Street may be closed to through traffic to accommodate equipment and material delivery. Access to driveways on the side streets will be maintained.

  • Monday, September 9th, 2019 to Friday, November 29th, 2019

    During the hours of construction, the Grant Road Bridge will need to be closed to thru traffic. This detour is necessary to maintain safety for all and decrease construction time. The detour route will direct traffic around the bridge using Babcock Street, Valkaria Road, Old Dixie Highway, 1st Street and U.S. 1.  

    The dates, times, and hours of construction will be noted here once they are determined.
